Pediatric Medicine is concerned with the care of children. It is important to know that children are not just small adults. They are physically and physiologically different from adults and develop through successive well-defined stages physically and psychologically.
Their physical development is followed using growth charts that demonstrate their physical development over time with respect to height and weight. Psychological development is followed using tables based on their expected ability to perform age-related tasks.
Immunizations are given according to a schedule which extends from the newborn period all the way into adolescence.
Children ideally should be under the care of attentive parents and a pediatrician.
